Bitcoin Magazine has taken a major step in solidifying its presence in Asia with a leadership overhaul at HK Asia Holdings (01723.HK). Effective March 14, 2025, John Edwin Riggins, a seasoned crypto leader with over a decade of industry experience, has been appointed as CEO.
Riggins, a founding partner of UTXO Bitcoin Ecosystem Fund and partner at BTC Inc., has played a crucial role in Bitcoin Magazine’s expansion across Asia for the past nine years. Additionally, Jason Fang, Founder of Sora Ventures, has been named Chairman, reinforcing the company’s strategic vision.
This leadership transition marks Bitcoin Magazine’s first entry into Asia’s public markets, following in the footsteps of Metaplanet, which benefited from UTXO Management and Sora Ventures. The conclusion of 1723.HK’s General Offer Period has propelled the company’s stock by over 1600%, signaling strong market confidence.
Under Riggins' leadership, Bitcoin Magazine is positioning Hong Kong as a critical hub for integrating Bitcoin into traditional finance. The company has already made significant strides, hosting Asia’s largest Bitcoin conference, BitcoinAsia, and launching the world’s largest Bitcoin Ecosystem Fund. Looking forward, the initiative will focus on engaging publicly listed companies, addressing regional Bitcoin accessibility challenges, and introducing structured financial products backed by Bitcoin reserves.
With support from Bitcoin Magazine’s U.S. headquarters, led by David Bailey, and strategic partnerships with Sora Ventures, this expansion aligns with the broader trend of institutional crypto adoption. As regulatory landscapes evolve, Bitcoin Magazine’s aggressive push into Asian markets could reshape the region’s digital finance ecosystem, bridging the gap between Bitcoin and traditional financial structures
