Pump.fun restores livestream feature with stricter moderation after limited test rollout

Solana-based token launchpad Pump.fun has fully reinstated its livestreaming feature for all users as of April 11, following a one-week test run involving 5% of its user base. The feature had been suspended since November 25, 2024, due to widespread misuse and growing concerns over unsafe content.

The platform now includes new moderation rules aimed at reducing abuse. These policies ban content such as graphic violence, harassment, sexual exploitation, doxxing, and illegal activity. Material involving child endangerment is strictly prohibited and may be referred to law enforcement.

Pump.fun stated that it introduced industry-standard moderation tools and published clear content guidelines. It also noted that policies will evolve based on feedback from users, moderators, and external experts. Livestream violations may result in account bans or removal of content, though users can appeal decisions.

Livestreaming was first launched on Pump.fun in May 2024 and became popular among memecoin creators looking to engage directly with investors. But the feature quickly turned controversial as some creators staged dangerous or extreme stunts linked to token performance, including threats involving firearms and suicide.

The suspension led to internal changes. Pump.fun doubled its human moderation staff and started building automated systems to better manage harmful behavior. The platform has now reinstated livestreaming only after confirming its new infrastructure can handle wider use. Creators must follow the updated policy and use appeal channels when needed.
